The hunk’s mom, Sonia Copeland Bloom, is moving house, and she wants to clear out her son’s room before she does it. What do moms normally do when this happens? My own parents jammed my stuff into boxes and left them in storage. Some of the stuff, I decided to get and use in my own place. But then again, I am NOT Orlando Bloom. I do not have tons of stuff that I can sell for a hefty price to the countless collectors out there.

This is what the star’s mom is planning on doing. She has already spoken to her son, who has given her permission to do so, with one stipulation: the proceeds of the sale would go to charity. So what can you get your hands on? The Guardian lists some of the items that will be on sale:

Among the items up for grabs are a bodyline wetsuit used by Bloom, 32, when he filmed a scene with Elijah Wood in The Return of the King and a poster signed by the entire cast.

A pair of Moroccan slippers and boots he wore in The Kingdom of Heaven could also entice film buffs.

But fans of Bloom – who now lives in west London – can also get their hands on more personal items such as the badminton and tennis racquets he used as a boy.

Gucci shoes, Puma trainers, polo shirts and a hooded waterproof Gap jacket belonging to the star will also be auctioned.

It will be interesting to see how much this auction will make. The charities that will benefit are Unesco, the New Marlow Theatre, cancer charity Odyssey and the UKC Music Scholarships.

A lot can be said about a person by one glance of their eyes. Expressions can be extracted from a persons eyes and this is something that can be obviously connoted up close. Especially for children who are certainly innocent and are no experts in hiding inner emotions and feelings, it is but normal to get a prelude to what they are experiencing at the moment. It is simply something that is hard to find.

While the whole story of such plights of lesser fortunate siblings cannot be entirely assessed, it does not take a person to understand why such people would be found in that predicament. But people do not really need to hear their story as most would come from typical mishaps such as financial and lesser responsible people who start to become selfish at certain points of their lives.

Siblings are the victims of such selfish acts and bearing the brunt for them is totally unacceptable.

Time is gold and money for most. But time and attention is important as well to people who are left in institutions that house most of the abandoned children and elders today. The attention that they seek is the attention that they lost from the day that they were left out in the cold for people who simply cannot face responsibility in the way that it should be.

Attention and time for these people do not need to be in the form of cash and goods. It is more on providing care and a crying shoulder for most since all their problems and woes are totally kept within them. Storing all of these and not being able to let out emotions is as hard as it gets. But people just don’t seem to care much for others since they obviously have not matured enough to take on responsibilities that people should be always aware of.

The common way for people to see wild life animals is usually towards the television set or photo images that we see everyday. Another is perhaps going to the nearby zoo where a person may catch a short glimpse of the animal roster that they have to offer. But in most cases, there are still a lot of rare animals to be seen in the world today and that the only people who may see them are actually the ones responsible for their possible non-existence in the near future, the hunters.

Crocodiles, birds, monkeys, bears and other mammals that are known to live on earth may not be seen by most people and some have already been declared extinct due to the deprivation of their right to procreate and wander off into the wilderness where hunters seek their prey.

There are preservations and foundations that exert their efforts to save them from extinction, no matter how dangerous they are. However, everyone must do his part in it. Without the extra effort, they are good as memories of our fictitious past.

Charitable organizations would always identify what particular area of interest they would consider to help out. With so much people in need today, it has gone as far as helping out places, worthy causes, schools and hospitals. But in a nutshell, all of them pertain to one worthy beneficiary that is of the human being.

It is not the sole fault of some parties for being on the hard end of living. It is by fate and not by choice that most people find themselves needing to seek help from the lucky beings in this world and in some cases, a helping hand coming from people who get fulfillment out of it.

The problem with the world today may perhaps be the proper identification of the groups in need. Some would focus on certain groups in need of food and shelter, but if explored a lot further, such efforts should be dissected a bit more since one area alone is not enough to cover.

Charities and good causes are usually traced towards people in need. However, not all human beings are the ones that need help. There are other creatures such as rare species that are on the verge of extinction, a lot due to man’s doing.

There have been a lot of species that are nearing extinction. This includes birds, wild animals and other animals that have become rare and on the verge of extinction. A lot has to do with man’s continuous search for recognition and hunting expeditions, claiming the distinction to either kill one or simply capture them but would not care for them.

Such a problem has been a cause for alarm and this has motivated non-profit groups to put up reserves and organizations to act as guardians to the unknowing species. While such has not been an easy task, the remaining species can be rest assured that there are people still watching their back all over the world.

Up next in the charities to consider for the upcoming season of giving is Thrive, a UK charity which helps the diasbled and mentally ill through gardening. Unlike other charities which supply medicine, food or fund research, Thrive helps people by providing a purposeful activity which helps them to cope with a difficult period in their life.

Thrive

Mission: Thrive is a national charity, founded in 1978, that makes use of gardening to change the lives of disabled people.

Gardening is a wonderfully flexible medium through which an individual can accomplish many things. Some may be immediately apparent, such as rebuilding strength after an accident or an illness, or providing a purposeful activity which helps people to cope with a difficult period in their life. Some may be less obvious such as helping to improve literacy through a simple task such as labelling a plant or reading a seed packet. There are some disabled people who simply want to enjoy gardening but need practical advice and skills to get started or to progress.

Focus: To research, educate and promote the use and advantages of gardening that can be accessed by anyone and everyone with a disability.

How They Help: Thrive’s activities are varied but all focus on championing the benefits of gardening to individuals and organisations, as well as teaching techniques and practical applications so that anyone with a disability can take part and enjoy this activity. Underpinning Thrive’s work is a research programme which provides evidence, improves understanding and supports the development of appropriate skills.

Online Donations? yes

A recent article from the Toronto Star, “the ICE idea”, is catching on and
it is a very simple, yet important method of contact for you or a loved one
in case of an emergency. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the
population, all you need to do is program the number of a contact person or
persons and store the name as “ICE”.

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when they went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn’t know which numbers to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name to file “next of kin”
under.

Following a disaster in London, the East Anglican Ambulance Service has
launched a national “In case of Emergency (ICE)” campaign. The idea is that
you store the word “ICE ” in your mobile phone address book, and with it
enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted “In Case of
Emergency “. In an emergency situation, Emergency Services personnel and
hospital staff would then be able to quickly contact your next of kin, by
simply dialling the number programmed under “ICE”.

Please relay this to everybody in your address book. It won’t take too
many “forwards” before everybody will know about this. It really could save
your life, or put a loved one’s mind at rest. For more than one contact name
simply enter ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc.

A great idea that will make a difference !

“Everyone has the need to contribute. It is one of the six human needs. If you give from your heart, it will come back to you tenfold.” – Anthony Robbins

One of the most powerful books available is the little book called Notes From A Friend by Anthony Robbins. Don’t be fooled by its size. It packs a wallop! In fact one of the greatest ways to make a difference can be found in the first few pages of this book.

Robbins talks about how a stranger had arrived on their doorstep one gloomy thanksgiving and delivered to their impoverished family a basketful of everything they needed to celebrate the holiday. When they tried to thank him he said that he was just the delivery guy. A stranger had made what would have been a very sad moment a highpoint in a family’s life.

We too can make a difference. People don’t need to know we are the source of the gift. It is pretty easy to find out from the local community centers who are the families who truly need assistance and what they need. It is possible to drop off your gifts to them on their doorstep without their knowing you were there. Just be the delivery guy and make someone’s day.

Don’t worry that what you give them only lasts a moment. Sometimes that is all people need, help to get through or past a difficult time. Food may not last very long but when you have just lost everything in a natural disaster it is much appreciated.

If you’d like to be part of the International Basket Brigade, visit the website of the Anthony Robbins Foundation. You can help by contributing in-kind or in cash or you can help find families that need your generosity the most. You can even organize your own basket brigade or deliver the baskets yourselves.

It makes a difference in people’s lives to know that someone cares for them, even if they’ve never met. Go ahead and make a difference.
