Buy Christmas Cards for a Cause

Written by Merve on October 9, 2008

Each year, there has to be something, a product to which can be associated with groups for a worthy cause. Normally we would see orphanages or housed disabled people trying to produce something useful for the normal person. Aside from the produced bags and consumer goods, one thing that they would familiarly offer are personally made Christmas cards to which each card bought would mean helping out their cause.

There are also some groups that produce seasonal cards to which each card sold would be given to charity. Other than a good cause, one may be surprised at the quality of these cards or the messages that come with them. Christmas is all about giving but it is also about remembering. Certainly, a Christmas card may seem to be cheaper to give but like everything else in acts of generosity, it is really the thought that counts.

Word of this spread and some parents decided that they would do the same. Instead of spending a fortune on cards that would end up in the bin, we sent an email with Christmas greetings and news to friends and family and gave the cash to the same charity.

This year staff have suggested that the children do not give their friends individual Christmas cards, but that each class makes a large card that they all agree on a message for, sign and read out in assembly. Parents are then asked to donate the money they have saved by not buying the cards.

So if you are thinking of a good gift to give this holiday season, consider these products for a good cause. They may not seem much as far as cost is concerned, but it is really about making a person happy and the cause to which it was meant to help.

Warning for those who want to donate to the people of Myanmar

Written by Merve on May 10, 2008

fraud1.jpgfraud.jpgMany feel frustrated at news that the government is still refusing some of the best agencies and their staff to enter the country to do proper relief work on behalf of the suffering people of Myanmar. Citizens in the capital have been trying to take supplies they can get to areas that need it but even they say that they can only do so much. Donations are flooding in from all over the world but aid agencies are raising a warning for those who want to donate cash through online charities. There is very little in terms of funds and materials that are getting into the country that many criminals may jump onto the donation bandwagon to get an easy buck. Try to donate only with legitimate aid agencies like the UN and other widely accepted charities. As we have said, it is better to send money to those who could put it to good use in helping the people of Myanmar and not into the pockets of these lowly criminals.
Channel donations in terms of cash and materials through the Charity Navigator which has a list of the most reputable agencies. Also, when helping by donating, indicate if you’d want the cash to be spent totally in relief efforts to a specific location or for general use. If a donation has no specifics, the aid agency has the ability to keep it in funds that accumulate and are used in case of disasters, or they can be poured directly into the country or specific area you want to help.
We simply cannot fathom the greed of such people who for a small amount of money deprive those in need who are dying and suffering in those far away, ands without food and water. May you get the heart to return or at least send the money to the rightful people who can make an impact and help people and remember that you might yourself need help from people who are generous and don’t have second thoughts when people and lives are at stake.

Sharing Your Heart on Valentines Day

Written by Merve on February 12, 2007

There are people who spend special events such as Valentines by sharing to the less fortunate. The immediate thinking of most people is that their partners deserve the due attention. But the truth of the matter is that Valentines can also be celebrated with their parents or people who have no one else to turn to.

For people who happen to live in the shabby places such as dumps and lesser presentable places of the world, sharing something in the form of clothes, goods or throwing a small pot luck type of party for them more than fattens the human heart.

Valentines Day Special

Valentines Day is indeed the day of the hearts. But people should note that hearts day is not limited to couples who love one another. Love can be approached in different aspects but it is more on giving attention on what a person is able to share that is important in most cases.

The Program called Donations and Medical Missions

Written by Merve on February 11, 2007

We would often see people living in the not so decent parts of the country. Satisfying themselves with living in the trash like parts of the world for the reason of not being able to sustain them in the proper financial manner is only normal. Not all people are blessed with a good career nor output in life and such sites can really solicit the unwavering help that people would not hesitate to give today.

Medical Missions

No matter how hard some people would try, luck just won’t smile all the time. For a good cause, some people would band together and create efforts to help the people in need in most cases. Donations in the form of cash, goods and medicine go a long way. While some of these efforts would not be immediately appreciated by the able people, the ones who really have no budget will surely appreciate and embrace such gifts with open arms.

Thriving on Fund Drives Using Classified Junk Materials

Written by Merve on January 28, 2007

Recycling used objects and things that would not have any more use is one of the common practices to which most people would use to convert them into cash or goods for donation to charity institutions. To most people, the value of junk and other trashed items would not have the same tag as it did before. Some would not even care on their use, content with just placing them in trash bags to help maintain their clean surroundings.

Waiting for Blessings

One man’s trash may be the benefit of another. This is something that best describes recycling used goods and converting them into something beneficial. There are still monetary values for such and people would be surprised at how much they could raise from such efforts. It is not entirely about cleaning up the trash, but rather converting cash into gold so that the needy people would benefit from them in whichever way possible.
