Event Ideas for Small Charities

January 24, 2011 By Charities Blog

1bdf671c728fa212Charities need not be big. After all, little things really do add up to make a huge difference. Small charitable organizations may not have as big as an impact as The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, but they do make a difference. If you are part of a small charity, maybe you find yourself trying to come up with various events which are not so ordinary. Here are some ideas to help you get the ball rolling.

A different kind of dinner
Charity dinners usually invoke visions of expensive venues and black tie affairs. It does not have to be the case, though. Think of something on a smaller scale and something that does not require huge amounts of money. How about focusing on a specific cuisine that will showcase a particular ethnic group? This is great for charities working in this area. Alternatively, you can have a group of families host the event and highlight their family recipes. This should encourage community involvement even more.

Fun events
Think out of the box. How about hosting a geek night at the local bar? I have had friends organize something similar and it was a hit. Fantasy night is another idea. You just might be surprised at the neighborhood response!

Use Facebook and other social media
You’re spending lots of time online anyway, why not take advantage of what is available? You don’t even have to spend extra money on promoting your charity!

The bottom line is to organize something that is tied closely with your organization’s purpose and to encourage everyone in the community to participate.

Bingo Being Banned

December 8, 2008 By Charities Blog

Name one activity that is closely associated with charities and you will surely get to hear charity bingo benefits that is normally advertised and pushed for a worthy cause. To some it may be a form of gambling but as far as the proceeds are concerned, many are forgetting their actual intent and cause.

For one, people play bingo for fun and of course to win. If the case were to play for money coming from the pockets of the actual bingo players then that can be considered gambling. But if you talk about solicitations as the main prize for these people, the scenario is entirely different.

Orphanages and home for the aged are usually the ones targeted as far as conducting these charity bingo activities. It all depends on how people really view it. Apparently, charity bingo is different from the ordinary bingo activities, most of which have shifted towards the cyber age as we can see most people play bingo online for money.

However, there are some online bingos that are played for charity. The problem is how to distinguish them. This is one area that most people would do well to address. Bingos are held for causes and to classify and determine just how different actual bingo gambling from charity bingo should be done by people who generalize most of the time.

Bingo is something only a few would recognize if they really will it. The problem is generalization and most of the time, it is a deduction that they do without proper steps to actually heed the purpose of it all, including that for charitable causes.

Do Charities Still Make Sense Today?

August 4, 2008 By Charities Blog

Everyone is suffering and surely the people who can support charities have been limited to the groups that can still hold concerts or even special shows. But independently, you will be surprised to find good Samaritans who can still devote time and a part of their income to the charity. Of course, you have to consider, their welfare comes first before doing a good deed.

There are other forms of charities though outside the standard concerts. There are other ways such as golf tournaments where participant fees and green fees act as the funds to be given to charity. If we see them a lot in the movies, they are actually done in real life. Basketball, golf and tennis, all of these events make periodic charity events and at least they are all doing it for a worthy cause.

March 13, 2007 By Charities Blog

Famous personalities in the area of entertainment and sports do their own way of helping out needy charitable institutions and foundations, making it a requirement for them to be able to share part of their time and earnings to people who are in dire need of them. Children and people who do not have the blessings that most of the success stories of people known in the world today are very much appreciative of such efforts.

Celebrity Charity

There have been a lot of campaigns and benefit events done each year for a certain cause. A lot of them are done out of charity, some to provide and answer the needs of people and so on. Whatever the cause may be, everything is aimed at answering the needs of people who seek comfort in the best way possible.

The level of satisfaction of such people is entirely different from the normal standards that people live on, and such is to be expected considering extending a helping hand is the important agenda of it all.
