Putting Disabled People to Work

September 30, 2010 By Charities Blog

The sight of a disabled child or person who pushes himself to earn a living despite having deficiencies in some parts of their bodies or from their manner of thinking is something that should inspire the normal man. Putting aside their current situation and status to give them a reason to live is the most important factor that touches the hearts of people who see them.

Disabled People Who Want To Live Normally

There are a lot of foundations that have taken this cue and even gone to the extent of helping them earn their keep and efforts through referrals and sponsorships. Working for a cause is the best term to generalize everything that these disabled people invest. Rarely would you see people putting time for such people who make the best out of what they can.

People who have some deficiencies cannot live normally but in most cases, it is the disabled people who seem to show more promise because they know that in their hearts that there is so much to accomplish if they are given a chance to be side by side with the normal and fortunate people of today.

Zo’s Million Dollar Golf Shootout Charity

August 6, 2008 By Charities Blog

Miami Heat’s Alonzo Mourning is a familiar figure when it comes to organizing charity events and apparently he has another project coming up this year. But this time, his event is not going to take place on the hardcourt. Rather it will be on the greens, a second sport that has been fixed at most basketball stars today.

The 5th Annual Zo’s Million Dollar Shootout will be held at Trump National Golf Club in Winchester New York on August 18. This annual event held by Mourning has solicited quite a big following. Most of them join not primarily to show off their golfing skills and golf swings but also to give support for Mourning’s worthy cause. It is not all about playing to win since in these events, giving is winning already in its own.

“We know there’s a million dollar shooter out there waiting to show off his or her skills so we encourage you to leave your business suits behind for the day and join us on the greens,” said Alonzo Mourning, Founder of Alonzo Mourning Charities. “Your support helps positively impact the youth we serve who might not have a chance to advance without our assistance. With increased financial resources, we’re able to change the lives of so many deserving children through education and mentoring.”

So if you are in the area, why not join. The cause is for helping out the people in need and it will really feel good doing it all for a worthy cause.

Looking Through the Eyes of Despair

August 1, 2007 By Charities Blog

Eyes of Despair

A lot can be said about a person by one glance of their eyes. Expressions can be extracted from a persons eyes and this is something that can be obviously connoted up close. Especially for children who are certainly innocent and are no experts in hiding inner emotions and feelings, it is but normal to get a prelude to what they are experiencing at the moment. It is simply something that is hard to find.

While the whole story of such plights of lesser fortunate siblings cannot be entirely assessed, it does not take a person to understand why such people would be found in that predicament. But people do not really need to hear their story as most would come from typical mishaps such as financial and lesser responsible people who start to become selfish at certain points of their lives.

Siblings are the victims of such selfish acts and bearing the brunt for them is totally unacceptable.

How to Start a Good Charity Drive

July 1, 2007 By Charities Blog

There are people who really want to devote some time they have in helping out other people. But the purpose for putting up charity drives would have to define what they are designed for and what they intend to accomplish. People would resort to medical missions, conducting community service in helping out shorthanded foundations to take care of the people under their wing.

Volunteering for Charity

It should however be noted that all this work is purely for volunteering and not strictly required. It is done out of entirely an open heart with no expectations of anything in return. This is the charity way of living, sharing and spreading the love that other people look for to which they have stumbled and almost fallen.

Such a task has been left under the wing of people who stand and believe in something that should be done for the oppressed. All it takes is identifying and matching the people to do the said work at the proper time.

Donation To Catholic Charities

June 7, 2007 By Charities Blog

The most notable donations given to charities would usually be in the form of cash or clothes. While there are many other things that catholic charitable institution would indeed need, they will in no way dictate what these needs are. Catholic charities such as that of the Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County, are numerous, most of them placed on their website but do not obligate people to actually prioritize them.

Catholic Charities

Donations are done through own free will. They will normally come unsolicited and it would depend on the people who put premium on them if they would be able to adhere towards these requests. Gifts in the form of cash gifts, legacy gifts, memorial and honorary gifts are some of the many types of donations that they would need and it would be up to the donors to choose on which among them would be ideal and affordable on their end.

Charity Foundations are Non-Profit Organizations

May 23, 2007 By Charities Blog

Practically anyone must be wondering, do all donations given to the known charitable institutions in their region actually reach their intended purpose of helping the actual people in need? Technically, the common man would care less but each penny or in kind donations are totally for the account of the people housed and targeted for such aids and donations.

Non Profit Charity Organizations

These charity organizations are non-profit organizations. They are purely for voluntary aid and work to serve people and endeavors in need. While the immediate understanding that people in need would be the main beneficiaries, there are other causes such as disaster victims, and other individuals who would find themselves on the losing end.

But just the same, the aim of such foundations and organizations is to purely offer help and support in any form possible. It is not about how much or what to give. It is about the use and extending that helping hand to help them in their unfortunate predicaments caused by varying events that have come into their lives.

Community Service in Educational Curriculums

March 15, 2007 By Charities Blog

In most educational institutions, community service is placed alongside the entire curriculum so that up and coming yuppies can get a glimpse of other things they can do outside that of contributing their expertise and working for a living. Exposing them to the people who have not the same luck that they have, like obtaining degrees and becoming bums is a good way of showing them that life is too precious to take for granted.

Community Service Philippines

Also, taking on community service work where they can do their share in helping various foundations and organizations that aim to answer the call of the needs of various groups is something that people may want to devote a part of their lives. It does not cost much for people to do so. A portion of their time and what they can offer is all that is needed. Everything is purely voluntary but the best way to see where they can help out once they are set out in the world and venture on things that they can contribute for a better society and world to live in.

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research

March 7, 2007 By Charities Blog

The best way to fight disease and illnesses is to be actually experiencing them and trying to find ways to combat them. Such was the motivation that popular celebrity actor Michael J. Fox that brought him to put up this foundation in May, 2000. Fox was diagnosed in 1998 as having a young-onset Parkinsons disease. Instead of looking for a cure on his own, he turned to making it a foundation to be able to help and make research on how to cure or fight the dreaded disease that has accumulated over $90,000.00 to date.

While there has still been no clear cure for Parkinsons, Fox still believes that there is hope and that people suffering from it will eventually triumph against it. Taking Time Out to Spend Quality Time with Charity Institutions

March 3, 2007 By Charities Blog

Time is gold and money for most. But time and attention is important as well to people who are left in institutions that house most of the abandoned children and elders today. The attention that they seek is the attention that they lost from the day that they were left out in the cold for people who simply cannot face responsibility in the way that it should be.

Unconditional Love and Affection

Attention and time for these people do not need to be in the form of cash and goods. It is more on providing care and a crying shoulder for most since all their problems and woes are totally kept within them. Storing all of these and not being able to let out emotions is as hard as it gets. But people just dont seem to care much for others since they obviously have not matured enough to take on responsibilities that people should be always aware of.
